KINKY BOOTS - ROCKDALE MUSICAL SOCIETY
In September, we worked on what was probably one of the biggest community theatre productions of 2019, Rockdale Musical Society’s ‘Kinky Boots’. Tasked with changing the standard of lighting for the society, LKR Productions provided lighting design, equipment and operation for the season.
We had to develop the lighting rig from ground up (or the roof down) and provide 4 extra LX trusses in the venue to handle the size of the show. There was a total of 80 lighting fixtures provided to bring the lighting design to life on stage and nearly 100 meters of wieland cable used to provide power to the trusses.
Our lighting design had not gone un-noticed either; here is what the reviewers were saying:
"The sound and lighting designs were spot on. This show just had so much colour and vibrancy." Sydney Arts Guide
"The lighting amps Lola’s favourite colour and floods the stage with it often but the use of Intelligents for spotting is also extremely well done. In addition, there is some clever use of how much light the audience is in … times when we are left in the dark with our emotions and others when we are lit enough to share with neighbours and become a cohesive bunch of riotously engaged rabble" Reviews by Judith
"RMS seem to have acquired some new lighting tech which was used with great commitment, if not complete accuracy and sense of mood." Theatre Now
We look forward to working with Rockdale Musical Society in the future!
